Gun Down portrays a human hand in a gesture both familiar and ambiguous: thumb, index, and middle fingers extended to mimic a pistol, lowered and resting gently on the middle finger. This subtle detail transforms a symbol of threat into one of surrender.
The artwork explores the challenges of communication, emphasizing how gestures can carry vastly different meanings depending on context. Gun Down invites us to question our perception of symbols, encouraging new interpretations even in the simplest of gestures.
