A glass nail is a useless object however, in this sculpture, it becomes the focal point of an interaction. Two distinct and contrasting elements: a 16 cm long glass nail and a concrete cylinder with a central hole. The concrete cylinder, hollow inside, houses a battery, an LED, and a switch. When the glass nail is inserted into the hole, the LED light activates, casting captivating reflections and transparency effects through the glass.
This artwork encourages us to reconsider what we see as useless or useful. The glass nail, although fragile and seemingly insignificant, becomes the key to illuminating the entire piece. This transformation invites viewers to think about how we perceive value and meaning.
The sculpture isn’t just a visual experience; it’s an exploration of how just changing the material of an everyday object can render it useless. It speaks to the potential for change and the hidden worth within all things, encouraging a deeper contemplation of value and transformation.
