“Volo Interruptus” is an exploration of the complex interplay between freedom and confinement, technology and control. At the heart of the work is a flying drone, typically a symbol of modern innovation and unrestricted movement, now confined within a small cage. The drone’s mechanical whirring and futile attempts to navigate its limited space serve as a powerful metaphor for the tensions and contradictions of contemporary life.
This piece examines themes of surveillance, control, and the ethical implications of technology. By trapping the drone, an object often associated with observation and freedom, we invite viewers to reflect on the constraints imposed by modern society and the paradoxical nature of our technological advancements. The cage, a physical barrier, also symbolizes the invisible boundaries that govern our digital and physical realms.
